Donald Trump is counting on the strong economy to propel his 2020 re-election campaign to victory.
Democrats have other ideas.
And this Fox News host made an admission about Trump in 2020 that no one could believe.
The fake news media’s latest anti-Trump narrative is that a minority of economists believe the economy will slip into a recession in 2020.
So-called “journalists” are begging for a recession because it is the one surefire way to get rid of Donald Trump.
But since many economic indicators point to sustained growth in the next year, members of the so-called “mainstream” media are taking matters into their own hands and trying to will the economy into a recession.
Fox News “Sunday Futures” host Maria Bartiromo appeared on Howard Kurtz’s “Media Buzz” program to discuss the fake news media’s un-American push to drive the economy into a recession.
“Consumer spending is extremely important and if you constantly hear doom and gloom on the media then you might very well say, ‘You know what? A recession is coming, I better pull it in. I better be a little more conservative with my spending. Be a little more prudent right now, because I hear what’s going on in the news that there’s a recession coming, so I’m gonna pull it in,’” Bartiromo told Kurtz.
Kurtz pressed Bartiromo if journalists were just doing their jobs by reporting on negative economic news – and if there really were some warning signs for the economy.
Bartiromo began by stating that journalists do have an obligation to cover bad economic news.
But Bartiromo took issue with how the fake news media promoted the minority view that the economy could fall into a recession next year while giving little to no air time for positive economic news.
“The media’s responsibility is to report the truth and to seek the truth. But Howie, how many programs do you hear the media saying ‘The unemployment rate is at a 51-year low.’? How many media outlets are you hearing say, ‘We had 4+ percent growth for one quarter last year, 3.1 percent growth in the first quarter and 2.1 percent growth in the second quarter’?” Bartiromo asked.
“Let’s be clear, a recession is two quarters of negative performance. Meaning, negative. Not positive. We are only seeing positive readings,” Bartiromo concluded.
A recession would be a political boon for the left.
An economic downturn would rob Donald Trump of his strongest argument for re-election.
But a recession would also devastate American communities.
Some towns and industries still haven’t recovered from the Great Recession in 2008.
Millions of Americans would lose their jobs and their homes.
Their children would wonder if food would be on the table when they got home from school.
So-called journalists don’t care.
However many lives they wreck by pushing the economy over a cliff and brainwashing Americans into thinking doom is around the corner is secondary to defeating Donald Trump.
