Panic is setting in at MSNBC.
The leftist network is slowly realizing Donald Trump has a strong chance of winning reelection.
And MSNBC told the stunning truth about one Trump strategy.
Fresh off the heels of a disastrous showing in the Iowa Caucus, Democrats are scrambling to convince Americans they know what they’re doing and they have a coherent message for the future.
Thus far, Democrats have done neither.
The candidate who has the inside track to represent the party in the general election is Bernie Sanders, a life-long communist who’s pushing 80, and already suffered a heart attack on the campaign trail.
The corporate press is beginning to realize Sanders could win, which is causing a split in the Democratic Party.
The moderates in the party flirted with Bernie’s ideas and adopted his populist rhetoric, but now those chickens are coming home to roost.
MSNBC host Joy Reid had on Sanders’s campaign manager Faiz Shakir, and admitted that Trump’s attack ads going after Sanders on his support of communist dictatorships would be “true” and “factual.”
Sanders did indeed praise Fidel Castro in Cuba, Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua, and Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.
He also said bread lines in the Soviet Union were “a good thing,” and honeymooned in Moscow at the height of the Cold War.
Reid also referenced a jaw-dropping rant by her MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews who warned of Sanders’s affection for socialism.
Matthews said, “[T]hose of us like me who grew up in the Cold War and saw some aspects of it after visiting places like Vietnam like I have, seeing countries like Cuba, being there, I’ve seen what socialism is like. I don’t like it, okay? It’s not only not free. It doesn’t freaking work. It just doesn’t work.”
If a leftist network like MSNBC is openly railing against the Democratic frontrunner, the party is truly in flux.
Matthews added an even sterner warning, “I remember the Cold War. I have an attitude towards Castro. I believe if Castro and the Reds had won the Cold War, there would have been executions in Central Park and I might have one of the ones getting executed and certain other people would be there cheering.”
Matthews’s shocking moment of lucidity illustrates the divide in the party.
Matthews is a John F. Kennedy Democrat, who was staunchly anti-communist.
But the party has moved so far to the left, a communist could literally be the party’s nominee.
Reid and Matthews acknowledge that Trump has a wide berth to attack Sanders on the issue of socialism.
Older voters hate socialism, and younger voters don’t understand it because they’ve been indoctrinated by radicals.
But the uniformed youth vote isn’t enough to propel Sanders to victory.
The chances that he gets moderates on board is likely zero.
The Democrats are going through an identity crisis at the worst possible time for them.
Trump has a unifying message while half the hosts on MSNBC are defending socialism.
