Flashback to a year ago and Rachel Maddow was riding high.
She and the rest of the liberals thought Robert Mueller was going to derail the Trump train and the country would be freed.
But today, Rachel Maddow just received terrible news after the recent Democratic debates.
This news won’t affect the future of the country, but it positively might affect her life.
It could also affect her income.
And most important – and it’s sure to happen – her status as a TV host will be threatened.
And that’s good news for the truth, because Rachel Maddow is no friend to the truth.
Just a few hours after the Democrat debates ended, Rachel Maddow was publicly shamed when Forbes magazine published an article showing Maddow’s position as the most-watched TV-news personality had ended.
Last year around this time, when the Russian hullabaloo was at its peak, Maddow took over the top spot as “the most-watched TV host.”
It made sense that Maddow had soared to first place. At the time, everyone was transfixed by the development of the Russian meddling affair.
And every time the cameras trained their eyes on Maddow, she went on crazy tangents about what Mueller may find.
Flash forward to twelve months later, and the Mueller report showed Maddow’s fantasies about Trump being impeached were a pipe dream.
Because of that, and because of her disastrous performance at the first Democrat debates, Rachel Maddow’s popularity has plunged.
Falling from the height of 1st place to 5th place (where the most current ratings have her pegged) must have stung.
And it must be even more painful to see Sean Hannity taking her spot in first place.
In fact, MSNBC has experienced a drop in viewership overall.
Here’s what Forbes reported:
“Ratings data released Tuesday by Nielsen show MSNBC’s surge has slowed, with Maddow slipping into fifth place overall with a total audience of 2.487 million viewers, behind Hannity (3.332 million), Tucker Carlson Tonight (3.145 million).
The Ingraham Angle (2.591 million) and The Five (2.503 million). The five top cable news shows finished in the same order among viewers 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers, with Hannity drawing a total audience of 527,000 viewers, and Maddow well behind with 384,000.”
This could tell you a number of things.
The most obvious isn’t so much that Maddow’s popularity is waning. The most apparent thing is Americans are tired of fake news and they’re not watching it like they used to.
You’ll notice that 4 of the 5 programs that get the most viewers are on Fox News.
But you’d never get the sense that Fox News is a trusted source of news if you listen to the rest of the networks.
This is especially true of liberal media outlets that post regularly on social media.
According to all of them, from CNN to Huffington Post, any news organization that receives the support of Trump can’t be trusted.
But the reality is quite the opposite.
Chances are the reason Maddow became as popular as she did is that conservatives watched her just to see what kind of lies she’d spout off next.
Regardless of who was watching and why, the bottom line is not as many people are tuning into fake news anymore.
And it’s got to be terrible for Maddow since she can’t deny the facts about it any longer.
