Liberals have completely wrecked the universities.
What used to be beacons of higher learning and argumentation are now echo chambers of indoctrination.
And one college has designed an absurd course to go after Donald Trump.
California is one of the most progressive states in the union, and that ideology is reflected in the university system.
Berkeley, the epicenter of the free speech movement during the civil rights era, has now devolved into the locus of anti-free speech.
The school has recently descended into chaos on more than one occasion in response to conservative pundits being invited to speak.
And other schools in the University of California system are right there along Berkeley in terms of radicalism.
You can pick a college at random and find stories of conservative speakers getting run off campus, while militant communists who fled the country are welcomed with open arms.
The University of California at Santa Cruz is known for being a far-left school out in the woods.
And one of their professors, Daniel Sheehan, has designed an anti-Trump course that proves the school’s ideological bent.
Sheehan has constructed a course called “Trajectories of Justice: Standing Rock, Climate Change, and Trump’s Potential Impeachment.”
The nonsensical course examines Trump’s role in the Dakota access pipeline, and how he could be impeached.
Robert Mueller’s two-year investigation showed that Trump did not collude with Russia, and the Democrats are scrambling to muster reasons why the president should still be impeached.
Sheehan thinks Trump should be impeached on environmentalist grounds.
Alas, this is what passes for higher education these days.
Somehow pulling out of the Paris Climate Accord is an impeachable offense.
The great irony of that accord is that the United States lowered its carbon emissions, but the main polluters—China and India—did not.
America is only responsible for approximately 11% of the earth’s carbon emissions, but climate alarmists act as if everyone will die if the United States doesn’t turn over the entire economy to the loonbag environmentalists.
These are the same people that pushed to ban plastic straws, even though well over 90% of the plastic straws in the ocean come from other countries.
Environmentalism has been completely hijacked by the far left.
And their environmental scare tactics are rewarded through government funding, thus creating a feedback loop.
It’s amazing how every single problem the left cooks up requires higher taxes and more regulation.
That’s their response to every single problem.
And when government invariably makes things worse, they double down.
The worse government does, the more funding it gets.
Which circles back to the universities who have done a disastrous job educating kids, yet continue to get showered with taxpayer dollars.
Their endowments are soaring, administrators are multiplying, and graduates are less prepared for the real world than ever before.
Instead of learning marketable skills, they’re being taught how to potentially impeach Trump because he pulled out of an ineffective, non-binding climate accord.
This is educational malpractice.
These universities need to be shamed into teaching core curricula that enrich students, not train them to be social justice warriors.
