House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has his sights set on Donald Trump.
Ever since Trump’s inauguration, he’s been one of the most dishonest Democrats in congress.
Now Schiff just went on CNN and things went horribly wrong for the Democrats.
According to liberals, the true scourge of the Red Scare of the 1950s was McCarthyism – not the communists that had infiltrated the State Department.
However, Democrats are perfectly fine with McCarthyite tactics when they’re the ones employing them.
And that’s exactly what Adam Schiff has done.
For two years, he swore to the American people that he had proof Trump colluded with Russia but couldn’t release the information at the time.
He appeared on CNN probably dozens of times falsely promoting this tease.
Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation came and went, and Schiff never produced any proof whatsoever.
Now Schiff is back to his underhanded tactics, this time pulling the strings of the hoax regarding a phone call between Trump and the newly-elected Ukrainian president.
Schiff and the Democrats made a huge spectacle of the benign phone call and launched an impeachment inquiry.
However, none of the Democrats’ witnesses were able to provide a smoking gun.
In fact, mainstream support for impeachment actually waned over the course of the proceedings.
With that in mind, Schiff made another appearance on CNN, and it went south quickly.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper had Schiff on his show and asked a softball question that threw Schiff for a loop.
Tapper asked, “Do you think President Trump should be impeached?”
Schiff had stated before the inquiry began that Trump’s actions were impeachable and he should be removed from office.
Schiff even read a fake dramatization of Trump’s phone call into the congressional record.
But in light of the news that impeachment is a losing issue for independent voters, Schiff seemed unprepared to answer the question.
Schiff responded, “I want to discuss this with my constituents and my colleagues before I make a final judgment on it.”
That is a jaw-dropping statement.
The lead McCarthyite himself went from saying Trump must be impeached to saying that he needs to talk it over with his colleagues first.
The truth is the Democrats’ impeachment gambit hasn’t worked and vulnerable House Democrats could get voted out if they move forward with a fraudulent process that most Americans don’t seem to care about.
Television ratings for the impeachment hearings have been abysmal, even by congressional standards.
Robert Mueller’s testimony drew a much bigger audience, but yielded a result that was devastating for Democrats.
They were able to fool the American people once, but it isn’t working this time.
Schiff knows this.
Just as he did with the Russian collusion narrative, he’s oversold the goods.
Now he’s stuck with an impeachment vote that could be doomed to fail either way.
