Democrats are making another desperate attempt to take down Donald Trump.
This time they’ve “got him” on his supposed tax returns published by The New York Times.
But the Times made one big mistake in their supposed bombshell allegations.
Democrats have been hunting for Donald Trump’s tax returns for four years, assuming a smoking gun lay inside.
The New York Times supposedly acquired documents—illegally—that details Trump’s taxes, and Democrats are rejoicing because they finally have the goods.
But they really don’t.
The “bombshell” report was just a rehash of a 2016 story about Trump’s taxes.
And many Democrats are running with the lie that Trump only paid $750 in taxes, but the same article says Trump paid $5.2 million over the time span in question.
Trump and his tax attorneys are denying the spurious claims made in the piece and want to know where the Times acquired the private information.
But lost in the weeds of this latest nothing-burger, is the report dispels one of the left’s biggest talking points.
Democrats have been saying that Trump’s taxes will show he’s beholden to Vladimir Putin and the Russians. However, the Times report says the tax documents don’t “reveal any previously unreported connections to Russia.”
In their haste to take down Trump, the so-called mainstream media undercut the Russiagate narrative that’s been perpetuated for four years.
The Times hit piece conveniently comes on the heels of Trump announcing Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.
The Democrats have been trying to formulate a plan of attack against Barrett, but they haven’t found anything persuasive.
The Times report also comes a day before the first presidential debate between Trump and Joe Biden.
Biden will undoubtedly use the article to generate an attack line against Trump, but doing so could open him up to questions of corruption regarding several members of his family.
Donald Trump Jr. laid out precisely why the tax story is yet another corporate press nonstory designed to take down the President.

It’s particularly amusing how Hollywood leftists have jumped on the story.
Even if the story about Trump’s taxes is true, there’s another name for it: Hollywood accounting.
The film industry is notorious for declaring billion-dollar blockbusters as losses, for example, supposedly all the “Harry Potter” films lost money according to bookkeeping.
The truth is the tax story doesn’t move the needle for anyone because there are much bigger issues on the table, namely the unending riots that have been either endorsed or ignored by the Democrats.
Funny enough, the last time Democrats made a big to-do about Trump’s taxes, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow embarrassingly presented a tax return that showed Trump paid tens of millions in taxes and charity.
This latest tax “bombshell” will probably fall apart just the same.
