The so-called mainstream media does considerable damage on a daily basis.
They shape and mold the stories that people are allowed to hear.
And one world leader called out the American press for the dangerous thing it’s doing.
Donald Trump aptly describes the mainstream press as the enemy of the American people.
Long-time Democrat pollster Pat Caddell, who supported Trump in 2016, came to that realization at least as far back as 2012.
And French president Emmanuel Macron believes that the American press is the enemy of the French people as well.
After multiple Islamic terror attacks have rocked France in recent weeks—including the grisly beheading of a school teacher—Macron denounced radical Islam.
During an interview with the New York Times, Macron said:
“When France was attacked five years ago, every nation in the world supported us…So when I see, in that context, several newspapers which I believe are from countries that share our values — journalists who write in a country that is the heir to the Enlightenment and the French Revolution — when I see them legitimizing this violence, and saying that the heart of the problem is that France is racist and Islamophobic, then I say the founding principles have been lost.”
This is a stunning comment for Macron because it represents a departure from the effete leftism that’s defined his tenure.
But Macron is correct.
The 2015 Paris attacks that killed over 100 people received widespread condemnation.
However, the narrative gradually turned into France’s supposed Islamophobia and intolerance.
Since 2015, France has seen 250 people murdered in terror attacks.
The actual problem is that leftist academics in the west have been teaching pupils to hate western society for decades.
The result is host nations become filled with self-loathing and then bring in cultures anathematic to western values.
Studies have shown that the children of immigrants and refugees become radicalized even though their parents properly assimilate to the host nation.
A poll from 2014 showed that 16% of French citizens supported ISIS, and approximately 1,000 French citizens left the country to join the terror group.
That is a direct result from western countries like France losing confidence in their values – just as Macron mentioned in his Times interview.
A similar phenomenon is happening in America.
Radical leftists literally march through the streets chanting “death to America” as if they were in Tehran, Iran.
Coincidentally, the American press mourned the loss of Iranian terror mastermind Qasem Soleimani.
Macron’s words should serve as a warning for other western nations.
Western values have proven to be the best at providing freedom and human flourishing.
Abandoning western values is only going to lead to more bloodshed.
If western countries are going to take in refugees in massive numbers—as Western Europe did in 2015—they need to abandon the principle of multiculturalism and promote healthy assimilation.
