The New York Times has been the “Orange Man Bad” newspaper the last four years.
Every story published about Donald Trump is hyper-negative and inflammatory.
But the Times recently reported something about Trump that had everyone gasping for air.
The New York Times can hardly be described as left-of-center.
The paper has bowed down to their “woke” staff by forcing out centrist columnist Bari Weiss and spurred op-ed editor James Bennett to resign after he had published a favorable article about Arkansas Republican senator Tom Cotton.
But the paper defied all expectations with a piece written by Nicholas Kristof shortly after Bill de Blasio announced New York City would be shutting down schools due to renewed panic over the Wuhan virus.
Titled “When Trump Was Right and Many Democrats Wrong,” Kristof talks about how Trump was right to call for schools to be reopened amid the anti-scientific hysteria coming from the left.
“Some things are true even though President Trump says them…Trump has been demanding for months that schools reopen, and on that he seems to have been largely right. Schools, especially elementary schools, do not appear to have been major sources of coronavirus transmission, and remote learning is proving to be a catastrophe for many low-income children,” Kristof writes.
“Yet America is shutting schools — New York City announced Wednesday that it was closing schools in the nation’s largest school district — even as it allows businesses like restaurants and bars to operate. What are our priorities?”
Kristof went on to argue that school shutdowns “should be the last resort.”
Pro-lockdown officials have been enforcing new mandates all across the western world, much to the consternation of citizens as well as dissenting infectious disease experts.
Countless doctors have been warning against more lockdowns, particularly with schools where children are the least vulnerable and the least likely to spread the virus.
Even the World Health Organization has said that lockdowns are ineffective for mitigating the virus.
But the lockdowns were never really about the science.
COVID-19 has been exploited by petty tyrants in various jurisdictions to crack down on gun rights and religious freedom in the name of public safety.
The so-called mainstream media has been happy to assist and will routinely downplay any news about the virus that’s positive.
And Joe Biden and Kamala Harris said they would not take a coronavirus vaccine simply because it was developed under the Trump administration.
The Democrats are too busy exercising their power to think about the long-term effects.
But Kristof is holding Democrats’ feet to the fire for what they’ve done.
As he concluded:
“So Democrats helped preside over school closures that have devastated millions of families and damaged children’s futures.”
