Kamala Harris is the heir apparent in the Democrat Party.
Many expect her to lead the Democrat ticket in 2024.
And Kamala Harris isn’t going to like what happened when this host took her by surprise.
As Black Eye Politics reports:
The number one issue vexing the Biden administration is reopening schools.
Biden told the American people during the campaign a majority of schools would open by the end of his first 100 days in office.
But once in office, Biden began dialing back that pledge.
First, press secretary Jen Psaki announced that what Biden meant was a majority of schools would be open one day per week for in-person learning.
Facing heat for misleading the public, Biden declared that what he really meant was a majority of K through eighth schools would open by the end of his first 100 days.
Even that was a walk back because Biden now excluded high schools.
Biden is paralyzed by the fact that the teachers’ unions pump tens of millions of dollars into Democrat campaigns and provide the “boots on the ground” to turn out voters every election season.
And the teachers’ union bosses do not want their members going back to work so they continually move the goalposts to reopen schools.
In an interview on NBC’s “Today Show,” host Savannah Guthrie pressed Kamala Harris on why the Biden administration would not give a clear answer on why schools could reopen before all teachers were vaccinated.
Harris melted down on national television as she avoided answering the question to avoid funding the teachers’ unions, which swing the biggest stick in the Democrat Party.
“So first of all, let me just say this, and the president has said it, and we’re all really clear: Teachers should be a priority,” Harris began.
“Look, let me just tell you something, I love teachers, my first grade teacher Mrs. Francis Wilson attended my law school graduation,” Harris added. “Teachers are critical to our children’s development, they should be able to teach at a safe place and expand the minds and the opportunities of our children. So teachers should be a priority, along with other frontline workers, and we’re going to make them a priority. I believe that 22 states… have prioritized teachers in terms of vaccination.”
Guthrie wasn’t satisfied and wanted Harris to provide a simple yes or no answer about teachers—like grocery store and retail workers—not needing the vaccine to go back to work.
“Well I think that we have to decide if we can put in place safe measures, this is why it’s so important we pass the American Rescue Plan,” Harris stated.
That wasn’t good enough for Guthrie who asked one more time as to if it was necessary for states to vaccinate teachers for schools to reopen.
And once again Harris refused to answer the question because the correct answer—which is no—would expose the teachers’ unions as greedy and entitled.
“We think they should be a priority,” Harris stammered. “We think they should be a priority. We think they should be a priority, and the states are making decisions individually about where they will be on the list of who gets vaccinated. I believe they should be a priority, the president believes they should be a priority.”
The Biden administration published CDC guidelines that were influenced by the teachers’ unions.
Under these new recommendations, thousands of schools would have to close and potentially stay closed into the next school year.
Harris and Biden don’t want to admit any of this so they dance around the issue.
