MSNBC has used its platform to scandalize everything Donald Trump does.
But an internal scandal just rocked the liberal network.
Now one MSNBC host is gone after a stunning controversy.
Chris Matthews, host of the show “Hardball” for over two decades, is out at MSNBC.
Matthews abruptly retired at the top of the show and producer Steve Kornacki had to finish the episode with no notice.
Matthews’s retirement was related to a hit piece in GQ written by journalist Laura Bassett.
In the piece, Bassett accused Matthews of inappropriate language of a sexual nature and dredged up old incidents from Matthews’s past.
Matthews addressed the controversy at the beginning of the show and then never returned after the commercial break.

Many have pointed out that the timing of the hit piece on Matthews is deeply suspicious.
The incidents raised in the GQ article were years old, and a particularly embarrassing moment with CNN host Erin Burnett was over a decade old.
However, the likely reason why the push for Matthews’s job came now was because he was going hard at Bernie Sanders.
Matthews’s lamented the fact that Sanders’s communist message was gaining momentum within the Democrat Party.
He warned that a Sanders nomination could trigger a repeat of the disastrous 1972 George McGovern campaign that saw him lose 49 states to Richard Nixon.
Despite being an unabashed liberal, Matthews is more in the mold of a JFK Democrat; he’s fiercely anti-communist, which makes him a target for the Sanders crowd.
During a Democrat debate postmortem, Matthews said on an MSNBC panel, “I remember the Cold War. I have an attitude towards Castro. I believe if Castro and the Reds had won the Cold War, there would have been executions in Central Park and I might have one of the ones getting executed and certain other people would be there cheering.”
That was strike one for the Bernie supporters, who are particularly vicious both online and in person.
Matthews also made a loose reference to the Nazi invasion of France while describing the impact of Sanders’s primary win in Nevada.
For that comment, Matthews was forced to apologize—which is when leftists smell blood in the water.
What’s particularly amusing about this incident is that Donald Trump gets compared to Hitler on a daily basis, and there’s never been any apology from media outlets for such despicable and irresponsible language.
The GQ hit piece was the nail in the coffin for Matthews.
Matthews’s departure could be a dangerous warning sign for what’s to come.
The left-wing outrage mob has claimed another scalp.
When they successfully take out an ideological opponent, they get stronger.
With Matthews off the chessboard, the far left can train its sights onto their next obstacle.
