The protests over the murder of George Floyd have turned violent.
Democrats have called for radical policies regarding the police in light of the disgusting incident.
But one police poll spells bad news for Democrats.
Rioting and looting swept across major American cities in response to the brutal killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.
Organic protests quickly turned violent in cities outside of Minneapolis in part due to provocation from radical groups like the terrorist organization Antifa.
The so-called mainstream media either ignored or excused the carnage created by the rioters.
Harrowing videos of elderly people being savagely beaten or shop owners being mobbed went largely uncovered by the corporate press.
Minneapolis surrendered a police precinct to the mob, which even appalled an MSNBC reporter.
But in the wake of the chaos, Democrats are fully embracing the radicals and calling for the defunding of police departments.
A veto-proof majority in the Minneapolis City Council have said they are prepared to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department because reform has become “impossible,” according to radical Minnesota congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
The declaration from the city council puts them at odds with the city mayor Jacob Frey who told a throng of angry protesters that he did not support defunding the police department.
The mob cursed Frey, and he eventually slinked away in a pathetic display of feckless leadership.
Despite the howls of protesters and the complicity of big media, getting rid of the police is not a popular position.
According to an NPR-Marist poll, 56% of Americans believe the police are acting appropriately or not being aggressive enough in light of the rioting and looting.
That poll might be surprising if one only consumes the so-called mainstream narrative.
It turns out that even Democrats hate chaos in the streets.
They don’t want to see their businesses or neighborhoods razed to the ground.
One of the starkest examples of a liberal being mugged by reality was after Los Angeles-based NBA writer Chris Palmer encouraged rioters and looters to “burn it all down.”
However, Palmer sang a different tune when the rioters came to his community.
Palmer called the rioters “animals” and told them to stay downtown.
The revolution is all fun and games when it’s on television – but not so much when it’s on your doorstep.
If Democrats believe defunding the police is popular, they are sorely mistaken, but they can’t help but bend the knee, literally, to the radicals in their midst.
Socialist New York City mayor Bill de Blasio has already said he will divert funds from police to other programs.
He’s essentially pledging to return New York to the soft-on-crime policies that caused violence and degradation to spread across the city.
One would think de Blasio would’ve learned his lesson after his zero-bail policy led to a spike in crime, a fact he acknowledged. But radical leftists have a religious devotion to their bad policy ideas.
