The Wuhan virus has radically changed American society.
Some politically motivated people apparently want to make the societal changes permanent.
That’s why Democrats don’t want you to see one shocking coronavirus video.
There have been nearly 3.2 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus around the globe and almost a quarter million people have lost their lives.
In the United States, there have been just over 1 million cases and roughly 61,000 deaths.
However, the hot spot of the American outbreak is New York City where more than one-fifth of total deaths have occurred.
But the unique set of circumstances New York is facing isn’t applicable to the entire country.
That was the argument made by Dr. Dan Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi, co-owners of Accelerated Urgent Care in Bakersfield, California.
In a YouTube video that had gone viral, the two broke down why the draconian shelter in place orders have gone too far and need to be relaxed.
Dr. Erickson said there is a “0.03 chance of dying from COVID in the state of California…Does that necessitate sheltering in place? Does that necessitate shutting down medical systems? Does that necessitate people being out of work?”
Erickson and Massihi argue that the original lockdown was probably necessary to “flatten the curve” and allow time to build up hospital resources around the country, but they believe the time has come to reopen the economy.
But Democrats aren’t too eager to restart the economy.
In fact, they’re happy that more and more people are on the government dole, because more dependents equals more control.
Some members of the left have even argued that we should remain locked down until a vaccine is developed, which could take 12 months, 18 months, or never happen at all.
What’s even more infuriating is that the video of Dr. Erickson and Dr. Massihi has been conspicuously scrubbed from YouTube.
After generating millions of views, it’s now gone.
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said her platform would be removing all videos that don’t adhere to the guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization.
This is truly Orwellian, especially considering the WHO was gravely wrong when it issued a statement saying the virus was not transmitted from human to human interaction.
Social media platforms have helped fight the monopoly of the corporate press, but their ideological kin at companies like YouTube are using similar censorship tactics.
Dr. Erickson also pointed out that Sweden, which didn’t undergo harsh lockdown orders, has fared well compared to other countries.
The doctors pointed out that the “herd immunity” strategy is likely the best in the long run because sheltering in place for long stretches of time not only weakens your immune system, but increases your chances of contracting the virus because it thrives in indoor environments.
As data trickles in, the understanding of the Wuhan virus increases.
It’s time to return to our normal lives in a responsible fashion.
