Viewers continue to be disturbed by what they see happening on-air at Fox News Channel.
There have been subtle shifts in programming and the course of corrections have not been for the better.
And now Fox News just did something strange and the reason will shock you.
In the wake of the El Paso and Dayton shootings, Fox News hosts and guests have been ripping President Trump for his rhetoric and advocating for gun control.
The latest example was when “Outnumbered Overtime” host Melissa Francis pressed White House spokesman Hogan Gidley on the alleged link between how Donald Trump talks about immigration and the El Paso killer’s motivation behind his massacre.
“But you don’t think his rhetoric plays any part in the hatred or the violence or any of the back and forth?” Francis questioned.
“The accusation is that the culture that he foments at his rallies leads to this kind of violence — how do you respond to that?” Francis asked.
Gidley fired back that any such suggestion was ridiculous and that, “We do not blame, nor do we even dream of blaming Elizabeth Warren for the shooter in Ohio who wanted to vote for her; the supporter of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who carried out a terrorist attack… and we don’t blame Barack Obama for the deaths of Dallas police officers.”
“Would it help if he were more careful with his language?” Francis responded.
But Fox News wasn’t the only outlet in conservative media that turned against the President.
The New York Post published an editorial calling on President Trump to champion a so-called “assault weapons” ban.
“This ban would only be part of the response: Keep improving background checks, find wiser approaches to mental health, get every state to pass a red-flag law (do a federal one, too, even if issuing these restraining orders is mainly the job of state courts),” said The Post.
“And by all means, do as Sen. Elizabeth Warren suggested in last week’s Democratic debate and ‘double down on the research and find out what really works.’”
The shift in editorial slant by Fox News and the New York Post may seem unrelated.
But they aren’t.
Both the New York Post and Fox News are owned by Rupert Murdoch.
Murdoch is an Australian media mogul who made a fortune in tabloids and entertainment.
However, while Murdoch nominally leans conservative on fiscal issues, he is a typical globalist Republican who favors open borders, international trade deals, and a more aggressive foreign policy.
Murdoch has also never shared the American belief in the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
And Murdoch turning his media outlets against Donald Trump is not a move that appears out of the blue.
At the start of the 2016 Presidential campaign, Fox News was so hostile to Trump’s campaign that Trump boycotted the network after Megyn Kelly tried to sink his campaign with insulting personal questions at the first Republican Presidential debate.
While the fake news media routinely smears Fox News as “state run TV,” the truth is the network has become more critical of President Trump.
However, given the New York Post’s editorial calling for gun bans, it now appears Murdoch’s entire media empire is turning against the President.
Liberal Propaganda Exposed will continue to cover any changes in Fox News Channel’s on-air presentation.
