Robert Mueller’s Congressional testimony was supposed to drive the final nail in the coffin of Donald Trump’s Presidency.
No institution in America was more complicit in this lie than the so-called “mainstream” media.
And this NBC host got called out for one scandal that could end his career.
NBC’s Chuck Todd is the host of “Meet the Press” and the face of the peacock network’s political coverage.
Todd served as a primary anchor for NBC’s live coverage of Robert Mueller’s Congressional testimony.
And Todd’s analysis of Mueller’s testimony left liberals up in arms.
Todd claimed Mueller’s physical appearance was a disaster.
Mueller appeared baffled at simple questions and did not even demonstrate a basic command of the facts surrounding the investigation.
Todd pronounced the Mueller testimony a failure based on the visual images of a befuddled special counsel struggling to answer the easiest of questions.
“…If that was the goal it’s a complete failure on that front. Look I think on substance Democrats got what they wanted. They got him to confirm that he didn’t make a charge because of the, of the Justice Department memo. He confirmed that you can still indict him on these charges after he leaves office. And he seemed to confirm the idea that under any other circumstance he likely would have filed some charges,” Todd began.
“So they got some substance of what they wanted him – some of that. But he provided such – what do you call it? Uncomfortable clarity. It – he would – as they were using him for clarity he’d somehow fog it up. And how he would do certain things. And, and – so look on optics this was a disaster,” Todd concluded.
This enraged the left.
Maria Bustillos of the Columbia Journalism Review (CJR) roasted Todd in a piece entitled “MSNBC Public Editor: The Chuck Todd Show.”
The argument Bustillos set forth was simple – Donald Trump was such a grave threat to America that journalists needed to ask themselves one question before reporting or offering analysis: how can I shade my coverage to hurt Trump and help the Democrats?
At a moment of particular gravity for the country, with the sitting president credibly accused of obstructing justice, and many of his campaign staff and associates under investigation and indictment, may I suggest that if you, a journalist, are bored with the politics of this—if you are demanding somehow to be entertained, right now—you’re not doing your job.
Politics isn’t entertainment, it is not a performance to be critiqued. Reporting on national politics is a public trust of solemn importance that affects hundreds of millions of people.
Columbia boasts the most prestigious journalism school in the country.
Their journalism is considered the top-end peer reviewed commentary of the profession.
But the Columbia Journalism Review doesn’t want to make journalism better.
CJR’s job is to police reporters into shaping their coverage into the most favorable light for the Democrat Party.
