For three years CNN pushed fake news and lies about Donald Trump and Russia.
Now the bill has come due.
And Tucker Carlson just drove the final nail in CNN’s coffin with this harsh truth.
Attorney General William Barr’s announcement that special counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia presented a major reckoning for the fake news media.
This was especially true for CNN which devoted hours of panel time to trying to connect dots that weren’t there in order to construct a narrative that Trump and his team worked in league with the Russians during the 2016 election.
In the wake of this narrative collapsing, Tucker Carlson had liberal journalist Glenn Greenwald on his program to discuss the media’s shattered reputation in the wake of promoting this hoax.
“What about all the people over the last two years that have been dismissed — and you’ve been one of them — as agents of the Russian government. Where’s the justice for them? When do they get their reputations back?” Carlson asked Greenwald.
“I think one of the things that we’ve seen over the last two or three years is that journalism — more than ever — is a profession of complete groupthink and mob rule. In part, because it’s really difficult to be a journalist these days because of financial constraints. Big media outlets are laying off huge numbers of people. If you’re a young journalist, the last thing you do is stick your head up and challenge the prevailing consensus because you could lose your job. If you lose your job, it would be really hard to get another job,” Greenwald began.
Greenwald continued, “Also, Twitter makes it so that journalists constantly talk to one another and create these sort of gangs that are designed to punish anybody who challenges their orthodoxies. And, I think journalism have completely disgraced itself and the exact time they are claiming that a grave danger to the republic is that Trump is demeaning journalists. They’ve done more to demean their profession, with this behavior calling Russian agents who question them or Trump supporters or apologists or denialists, they have a whole long line of accusations and new terms to stigmatize anyone who questions there descent. And it’s really effective for a lot of people who, unlike us, have established platforms and its been really effective from them being questioned or challenged.”
Greenwald is one of the few honest liberals in the media.
He published Edward Snowden’s account of Barack Obama’s illegal warrantless wiretapping even though Obama was a president the left worshipped.
Greenwald doesn’t believe in ideological sacred cows.
He has a point of view, but he honestly pursues a story where the facts lead him.
And while his comrades on the left at CNN were running wild with theories about treasonous Russian collusion, Greenwald soberly digested the facts and quickly came to the conclusion that the story was a hoax.
Hosts and reporters at CNN never took a moment to temper their speculation and look skeptically at thinly sourced stories about Trump and Russia.
Instead, they ran with fake news like Donald Trump Jr. . getting a heads up on the WikiLeaks email dumps.
Or they overhyped and sensationalized facts to fit a false narrative that there must have been something sinister going on between the Trump team and Russia.

But there was nothing there.
There never was.
And Carlson and Greenwald shoveled the final pile of dirt on CNN and the rest of the fake news media’s reputation by pointing out how so-called “journalists” hatred of Donald Trump led them to willingly disgrace themselves and their profession.
